High blood pressure is a serious, potentially deadly problem for millions of Americans. It’s usually treated with medications, but now there’s an alternative to drugs.
But going off the drugs was not an option for Terry.
If left untreated, hypertension can potentially cause serious problems. Desperate for an alternative, Terry decided to try a new therapy recently approved by the FDA.
“You put it around your chest,” said Terry. This new machine called RESPeRATE helps patients breathe slower and deeper. Headphones attached to the machine play music that tells Terry when to breathe.
All it takes is about 20 minutes 3 or 4 days a week. “I used it for 2 months and my blood pressure was down enough that my doctors agreed i could cut my medicine in half,” said Terry. “It’s a viable alternative,” said Dr. Guy Pugh.
Internist, Dr. Guy Pugh says it’s a great option for those who don’t like taking drugs and he says it’s easy to use. “It’s virtually fool proof,” said Dr. Pugh.
