I was diagnosed with mega high blood pressure (216 over 160) – bit of a laxative to put it mildly.
In the first stages medication is needed to get it under control and and once you have it under control you can then get serious about Lifestyle changes. In my case I lost 20 lbs in weight and started to get myself fit.
It’s not easy and I sometimes feel like strangling my trainer but my fitness levels have improved, I’m running again and my goal which I will achieve will be to maintain and control my blood pressure naturally for the rest of my life.
I am now on the bare minimum of medication and to be honest am happy with that as to be honest HBP is one of those things that you can’t take your eye off for one second and I have no plans for imminent departure of this planet for a very long time.
As far as side effects are concerned then they can be very awkward (especially for guys – say no more) but do improve with lifestyle changes and fitness levels.
No one has to be a super athlete to be able to improve their level of fitness and get their weight down.
